Beet

Beets are vibrant root vegetables prized for their deep magenta hue and earthy flavor. You see these bad boys in salads and, hey, maybe even a borscht. Beets have somewhat gained superfood status thanks to their dense nutritional profile. Beets are packed with folate, manganese and potassium, all of which give this veg its potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Beets are also known for their natural sweetness, making them a versatile ingredient in the kitchen - and a health booster for juices and smoothies!

Carrot

Eh, what's up, doc? Bugs Bunny may be the reason why people think bunnies munch on these crunchy, orange veggies day and night. Move over, bunnies, because we seek out carrots for their high beta-carotene content - which your body converts into good old vitamin A. That’s why many often associate carrots with good eyesight.

Beyond vitamin A, carrots are also packed with vitamin C, vitamin K, potassium and a variety of antioxidant carotenoids. As much as we love carrots, we understand that they may be an acquired taste. Cayenne

Cayenne pepper (aka Capsicum Annuum) is a fiery spice native to Central and South America. This long, slender red chili can reach heat measured between 30,000 to 50,000 Scoville heat units! Don’t worry. That’s not too hot. In terms of the Hot Ones lineup, you’re looking at the fourth bottle out of the ten. So, is cayenne pepper just spice? No!

When added sparingly to juices (remember, it’s spicy), cayenne imparts a warmth and an extra dose of vitamins A, C and E, along with anti-inflammatory and circulation-boosting properties. At Little West, we add just enough to give you its benefits, but not so much that you won’t be able to drink your juice.

Cilantro

Also known as coriander leaf, cilantro is a bright, aromatic herb with delicate, lacy leaves and a fresh citrusy flavor beloved in cuisines worldwide. You’ve probably seen it in salsas, chutneys, and even soups.

Did you read that right? Cracked peppers? Yeah, you did! Yes, pepper is often used for cooking because it just has that distinctively bold and pungent flavor - but, oh, it can do so much more. 

Unlike finely ground pepper, cracked pepper releases volatile oils more slowly, providing a longer, more complex spice experience. In juices, a pinch of cracked pepper adds warmth and a subtle heat that awakens otherwise mellow flavors. Beyond taste, cracked pepper brings digestive and metabolic benefits rooted in its active compound, piperine.
